People ask, "What does the name The Cinder Project mean?" In its most basic form a cinder burns. For us, it is a symbolic representation of our lives with Christ, and It burns. The story behind the project goes like this:

As a cinder burns, impurities and extra mass are being removed, what is left is a pure piece of carbon. A piece of carbon that glows with intensity, gradually getting lighter and lighter as the heat continues to burn at its structure. Eventually the cinder catches the air currents and it is swept up into the sky and carried away from the fire that it once burned in. This individual ember lands in place, ignites the fuel around it, and creates a whole new fire.  Cinders not only start fires, but glow bright with intensity in the core of a fire, or stand alone as a single beacon of light in a dark night's sky.

The Cinder Project was formed to cultivate the fire. We exist to intensify an individual's life with Christ, so much so that the impurities are burned away and they themselves become beacons in the darkness of life. We offer hope, compassion, love, and peace through our Lord Jesus Christ. It is Christ that has started these fires in us, it is Him who delivers us from pain, suffering, and hopelessness. We place our hope and faith in Christ. We are here to stoke the fires and encourage others in a life that is connected to Christ in every moment, hour, day, year, and lifetime.
Jeremiah 20:9  But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

The Cinder Project is just that, a project. Ever growing. Ever changing. It is always being worked on, completed, and started again. We work to fulfill the passions, callings, and dreams of the individuals that are called here. Not every one has the same calling, but we are all called by Christ. We work together as a body to help develop those callings and empower the individual to succeed in those callings. These callings may take many forms. We are here to adapt and equip the individual for success through the talents and management skills that have been developed over years of experience starting a from scratch ministry.

Current Projects

Cinder Skatepark
Cinder Skatepark opened its doors in February 2007.  We set a standard of offering a clean and safe environment for all participants. Not only is it a safe place to skate, but it is a positive environment that exudes the love of Christ to every person that walks through the doors.

Skatepark Goals:
  1. To offer the love of Christ to every person that walks through the doors of the park, whether skater or parent.
  2. To offer a safe and clean environment to skate that is always changing, always adapting itself to needs of the surrounding skate community.
  3. To offer a safe place to ask about Jesus without the intimidating walls of a traditional church.  We encourage questions to be asked about our faith in Jesus. We treat every question with the respect and dignity that the person asking deserves.
  4. To offer guidance in finding a local church body for individuals or families to get involved. Cinder Skatepark is not a church with regular fellowship; however, we are a tool to be used by the local church body to reach into a lost community.
  5. To build the skate community through positive relationships. We are the gathering place for that community.
  6. To offer clothing and skate gear that reflects Christ, right alongside the most popular gear that the skateboarding culture has to offer.

Cinder School of Music
Cinder School of Music is in its very beginning stages. Right now, the school is teaming up with Camp Canaan to provide the music portion of their arts program for summer camp. In the fall, this partnership will continue as the School of Music launches a full course under Camp Canaan's after school program.

School of Music Goals:
  1. To provide a place to hone musical skills, from the beginner student, to the one desiring to be a professional musician, through individual lessons, group sessions, and classroom settings that include courses on everything from music history to theory.
  2. To create a network and community of musicians that can interact with one another in inspiring and educational settings.
  3. To host events that showcase the students of the school.
  4. To provide opportunities for students to encounter God in light of Him as Master Creator.
  5. To encourage mentor relationships between students and teachers.
